March 14: SeaWorld
SeaWorld Adenture Park in Orlando has been a collabotaor with Dr. Carrier and his shark studies for many years. Much of their efforts for rescue and rehabilitation of marine turtles and marine mammals are unknown to the public. The Biology group was treated to a total “behind-the-scenes” tour that introduced students to rescued manatees, including a baby, who were victims of boat accidents, sea turtles, also victims of boating accidents, the aviary, lab, and surgical suites (with a sea otter surgery in progress that students were invited to observe), and, of course, the shark exhibit.
