GalleryWatch

Here’s a bit more information on my internship site, for those who are interested. :)

GalleryWatch is an online publication that tracks legislation as it moves through Congress. Founded in 1996 in Texas, GalleryWatch later established the national coverage branch that I am currently interning at.

In 2006, GalleryWatch became part of the Roll Call Group, and a year after that the two publications created CongressNow, an online newsletter that combines GalleryWatch’s focus on the Congress and Roll Call’s hometown newspaper style.

Working as a GalleryWatch intern, I have the opportunity to write for all three publications. In fact, I have written more for CongressNow than I have for GalleryWatch! Being at the Roll Call Group has given me the amazing opportunity of experiencing many different media outlets in one internship– I am involved in a more research-based position with GalleryWatch, an online media outlet with CongressNow, and a medium sized daily newspaper with Roll Call.

A typical day at the office can range from running around Capitol Hill to collect testimony from Congressional hearings, to covering Congressional hearings or conferences, to researching earmarks or press releases online and updating the GalleryWatch website. It’s always busy, keeping me on my toes and teaching me more everyday!
